Our team participated in Volunteer Day at Te Raekaihau reserve, contributing to native tree planting, weeding, and track maintenance as part of our "Day for You, Day for Us" programme. We are proud to support Te Ohu o Te Raekaihau’s mission to restore the indigenous connections of this significant land for future generations.

Putting down the digital tools to pick up gardening tools.
Last month the team headed out to Ngā Hau E Whā O Paparārangi marae to lend a helping hand to their gardens. Based in Newlands, the marae has incredible views over the Wellington harbour with a few lawns, vege garden, and perimeter planting. We chucked on our gardening gloves and got stuck into some planting, harvesting flax, and weeding.

Day For Us
Our team's talents stretch far beyond architecture and design. We're also painters, photographers, digital artists, renderers, crafters, builders and so much more. Our “Day For Us” initiative, created three years ago, gives everybody an opportunity to pursue one of their passions or explore something new.

Light in Architecture
The relationship between architecture and light is everything. We design around light to enhance the quality of life within a space. The sun provides an array of qualities that transforms the built environment, will it be in your home or workplace. Utilising sun and daylight can be highly cost-effective by reducing energy for artificial lighting, cooling and heating. Ample daylight can create a pleasant visual environment which also enhances user comfort, mood and health. In short, a well lit space determines the success of a space - will it be used, when will it be used.

Higher Hopes for Denser Living
One of our Architectural Graduates, Tayla, has recently achieved her Masters of Architecture degree at Victoria University of Wellington, and we are so very proud! We thought this would be a great chance to share her fifth year thesis which explored the current constraints in existing medium-density housing in New Zealand.

It’s National Volunteer Week (NVW)!
Giving back to our community is so very important for us and for the last couple of years we have teamed up with the incredible team at Volunteer Wellington. We decided to implement a "Day for You, Day for Us" initiative and it has been very rewarding.
For #NVW2020 we thought we would share some of the volunteer work we've done recently (including a few sneaky photos we got of some of the team in action).
