Commissioned by the Department of Conservation (DoC), Pynenburg & Collins Architects designed the new Powell Hut to replace the previous hut which had weathertightness issues leading to structural problems.

Lab-works Architecture, in collaboration with Parker Warburton Team Architects, are proud winners of three NZIA 2019 Southern Architecture Awards in the Education and Resene Colour Award categories. In addition Lab-works Architecture also received a Merit Award under the 2019 Property Council of New Zealand, Property Industry Awards.

We are delighted to announce that Simon Blencowe from our Christchurch office is the Regional Category Award Winner in the 2018 Master Builders House of the Year Competition for his design of a Lyttelton house new build.

Our Urban Lodge design for Welhaus has been acknowledged by the Design Institute of New Zealand for Best Design for Diversity in Compact Design in Residential Interiors and was recently a finalist in their 2016 Residential Interiors Awards. 

We are delighted to announce that Simon Blencowe in collaboration with Welhaus, has been awarded runner-up (highly recommended) in the PrefabNZ UniPod Design competition.

Conservation Minister, Hon. Dr Nick Smith arrived via sea kayak to open the new Anchorage Hut on 11 October 2013 in front of an enthusiastic crowd of invited guests and visitors. The local iwi gave the hut a dawn blessing followed by a lunchtime opening ceremony.
