KāKāRIKI COFFEE
This cafe was designed to be a green oasis, an escape from the hard surfaces that surround CBD professionals. A breath of fresh air, bringing a lush retreat to a busy street.
Under a very tight timeframe with a conservative, start-up budget, Pynenburg & Collins transformed the former Trade Kitchen’s early 2000s grey and red restaurant into a fresh, vibrant, welcoming, and successful café space for our client Thobias Joby.
What began as a traditional client-architect relationship has now evolved into something quite special. The design team approached the design holistically, curating the cafe’s logo and branding in collaboration with Justine Derrick Creative.
This was very much a hands-on project for our project team who got involved in the finishing touches including creating beautiful free-hand custom murals, choosing the menu names, styling and even
organising the opening night.
