PYNENBURG & COLLINS ARCHITECTS (PREVIOUS OFFICE) - WELLINGTON

Dixon Street was the location of our previous Wellington offices. The top-floor tenancy had a number of superb features such as raking ceilings, timber floors, natural light (through both skylights and south windows), and an exposed roof structure. These elements became the foundations for our design.

The fit-out was based on a brief for a space that was enjoyable to work in, fostered a creative attitude in our team, impressed and inspired our clients, and provided open plan and planning flexibility, whilst retaining privacy for client meetings.

The design features large, uninterrupted floating roof planes, bespoke storage cabinets, and freestanding organising walls to structure the large space. We emphasised the ceiling height with a central full-height wall and gave it a creative studio character with robust, self-finished materials such as hardboard, Villaboard, concrete block, custom wood, steel partitions, and timber floors.

Direct views and controlled glimpses create a permeable connection between the public areas and the studio itself, so that the activities of the office were not a mystery to those visiting. It was a fun and functional space that solidly supported the growth of business through the lifetime of the fit-out.
